Checking in a guest

4 min read

Check-in is designed to take seconds, even on a busy morning.

Find the arrival

Open the Reservation Book and switch to the list view, or use the Control Deck's arrivals list. Each row shows the guest, unit, nights, and balance owing. You can search by name or scan the day's arrivals.

Check the room is ready

Cardinal tracks each unit's status - clean, dirty, or out-of-order - per day, and a check-in automatically flags the room dirty for the next turnover. Housekeeping always knows what's ready to sell, so you won't put a guest in a room that hasn't been cleaned.

Take any balance

If there's a balance owing, take payment right from the folio - the card on file, a new card, or Interac debit / e-Transfer. The charge posts to the folio and the receipt is sent automatically.

Check in

Confirm the check-in. The unit flips to occupied, housekeeping is notified, and the guest's stay moves to in-house on the board.

Need to move a guest mid-stay? Use Move room on their reservation - the remaining nights and the folio follow them to the new unit as one continuous statement.

That's it. The whole property stays in sync without anyone re-typing a thing.
