Rates

Type your room price. Every other rate follows it.

Raise a base rate and every derived plan follows. Price one room on its own without leaving its group. And an automatically applied rate can never cost a guest more than the rate they would otherwise pay.

Structure

Room types are rate groups

A group base rate, and per-room override

Every room belongs to one rate group with a base rate, and any single room can be priced on its own without leaving the group.

Plans track the base

A plan set at plus 15% or minus 25% follows each room's effective base rate, so raising a base carries through every derived plan automatically.

Rules for who qualifies

Date window, seasons, minimum stay, daily, weekly or monthly cadence, restricted to a company account, or unlocked by a rate code.

Selectable at booking

The desk sees Rate, 3 available, with each plan's effective price and what it includes, and can override the default.

The safety rule

The automatic rate is always the lowest that applies

This exists because the opposite behaviour is how a property silently quotes eleven times rack rate to every guest for sixteen months.

Cheapest qualifying plan wins

The base rate is always in the running. If no plan beats it, the guest gets the base.

A surcharge is offered, never applied

A seasonal plan that costs more than the base appears in the picker as a choice. It is never selected on the guest's behalf.

Bulk changes state their scope

All upcoming, the next six months, a season, or a custom range. Anything narrower than all upcoming creates a dated rate plan and leaves the base rate alone.

Deleting a rate asks first, and shows the damage

The confirmation names the plan, counts the room types that lose it and the dates it covers, and says that stays already booked keep the price they were sold at. You are agreeing to something you have read, rather than to the word Delete.

Packages can be attached to a rate and then charged separately, blended into the nightly price, or comped. Blended means the guest sees one all-in nightly rate, and the lodging tax is still computed on the lodging portion only, so the remittance stays exact.

Questions

Asked and answered

Can I have different rates for different seasons and companies?

Yes. Date windows, seasons, minimum stay, daily, weekly or monthly cadence, restricted to a company account, or unlocked by a rate code.

Do I have to update every rate when I raise prices?

No. Rate plans follow the base rate. Set a corporate rate at -15% and raising your base carries through automatically. You can also price any individual room on its own without leaving its group.

Could the system quote a guest a higher rate than they should get?

No. An automatically applied rate can never cost more than the rate the guest would otherwise pay. The cheapest qualifying plan wins, the base rate is always in the running, and a seasonal surcharge is offered as a choice rather than applied silently.

Can I include breakfast in the room rate?

Three ways, and you choose per item: charge it as its own line, blend it into the nightly price so the guest sees one all-in rate, or comp it. Blended keeps the accounting correct, because the lodging tax is still computed on the lodging portion only.
